A operação teve início no fim da madrugada de hoje, mas só depois das 6h é que os agentes entraram de fato nas comunidades, pois precisaram destruir barricadas montadas pelos traficantes nas ruas de acesso aos morros. O espaço aéreo da região central do Rio está controlado para deslocamento dos helicópteros das forças de segurança, mas a medida não compromete as operações de pouso e decolagem nos aeroportos.
